At Novus Nine, we are a dedicated team bringing a fresh perspective to commercial film and photography. We work tirelessly to deliver agency level polish, but we pride ourselves on remaining approachable, flexible, and grounded on every single shoot.
A Balance of Art and Logistics.
Novus Nine was founded by Dom Banes and Sam Brown. We met working together at a traditional creative agency, where we honed our craft and led complex projects. Over time, we realised we wanted to build something that reflected our own values. We envisioned a production house built on creativity, clear purpose, and genuine collaboration.
We bring a careful balance of creative direction and rigorous logistical planning to our work.
Dom (Creative Direction):
Dom directs our shoots with a focus on making everyone feel completely at ease. He knows that the best frames happen when the team is relaxed and enjoying the process. Outside of work, Dom is a passionate astronomer specialising in deep space astrophotography. Capturing galaxies requires immense patience and a meticulous eye. He brings those exact same qualities to commercial filmmaking.
Sam (Production and Logistics):
Sam ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From pre production planning to the final edit, she makes sure ambitious ideas work practically and within your budget. Fuelled by strong coffee and literary fiction, Sam keeps our projects on track. When she is not managing productions, she is chasing after her daughter with her wife. It turns out that family life requires the exact same care and crisis management as a busy film set!
The Meaning Behind Our Name
Novus is Latin for new, fresh, and innovative. Nine represents the Greek muses of art and science. For us, it is a daily reminder to blend fresh thinking with careful artistic discipline. It keeps us focused on producing work that truly matters to our clients.
