The Commercial Challenge
The Giving Tree initially approached Novus Nine for a straightforward digital refresh. Following a deep strategic consultation, we identified a critical gap in their wider marketing toolkit. While they did incredible work on the ground, they lacked the premium video assets required to effectively communicate their scale and impact to high value corporate partners and donors. The challenge evolved from a simple website build into a comprehensive visual strategy. We needed to engineer a digital home paired with a compelling brand documentary to actively drive fundraising and community engagement.
Our Strategic Approach
We deployed a purpose driven visual strategy. Rather than scripting the project from a boardroom, our production team spent time on the ground with the local charities they support. Immersing ourselves in their daily operations allowed us to capture the authentic emotion and tangible reality of their work. We set out to produce a suite of films that felt cinematic, entirely honest, and heavily optimised to inspire immediate donor action.

The Production Reality
Executing a charity production requires absolute sensitivity and extreme logistical efficiency. We coordinated a highly agile shoot across three different counties in a single day, capturing the vibrant energy of community fundraising events. A major operational highlight was tracking The Giving Tree team as they crossed the finish line at the Cambridge Half Marathon. Our crew operated discreetly to capture genuine joy and commitment without ever disrupting the natural flow of the fundraising events.
The Commercial Outcome
The Giving Tree was born out of a bold initiative during the pandemic when The Chestnut Group repurposed their venues into community food banks. Today, they have a premium digital platform that finally matches the gravity of that founding mission. The charity now possesses the high end visual assets necessary to secure vital corporate partnerships, promote major fundraising events, and confidently scale their charitable operations across the region.
